HEYplan Starter vs Core: Reusable Pages, Ink Care and Keeping Notes

Official HEYplan campaign video cover showing the disc-bound planner and reusable planning pages

HEYplan: Become Planner is HEYii's reusable planning system built around a 90-day cycle. Its central choice is simple: keep rewriting a small set of planning pages instead of filling a permanent paper record. That can suit changing plans, but it also makes pen compatibility, cleaning and saving old notes part of the routine.

Choose the planning depth you will actually use

The official FAQ distinguishes two packages: Starter has five essential templates, while Core has eight for more detailed goal, habit and reflection planning. Choose Starter if a simpler planning flow is the priority; Core makes more sense if you expect to use the additional reflection and habit structure. More templates only help when they match a routine you will maintain.

The campaign connects yearly direction with quarterly, weekly and daily planning. It includes planning and review within the system, alongside a detachable habit tracker that can move through the planner. Metal discs allow templates to be added, removed and rearranged. These are organizational features, not evidence that the product itself guarantees better habits or productivity.

A reusable page is a working surface, not an automatic archive

Erasing a page makes room for a revised plan, but removes the previous version from that surface. If you need a history of decisions, completed tasks or reflections, photograph or otherwise record the information before wiping it. A conventional paper planner retains those filled pages; HEYplan instead emphasizes resetting and rearranging the same system.

The creator's first update introduces optional blank, lined or dotted page packs, with three pages in one selected layout. It also describes a yearly-plus-quarterly expansion and an existing weekly-plus-daily-plus-habit expansion. These options can add room for notes or planning layers, but confirm the exact contents of the chosen reward and add-ons before backing.

Pen choice and cleaning are the practical limits

HEYplan is not presented as compatible with every pen. The FAQ recommends HEYpens and HEYmarkers, whiteboard or dry-erase markers, and selected ballpoint pens. The creator lists Zebra T3, Zebra Tapliclip and EXPO dry-erase pens among tested options, advises testing on the included round silicone pen tester, and does not recommend pencils.

The FAQ also qualifies the campaign's smudge-resistance message: let the ink dry fully before it touches other surfaces, and avoid repeated rubbing, which may smear writing on the erasable surface. That matters if you close the planner quickly or carry it against other items.

For routine cleaning, HEYii describes dry wiping with the HEYpen eraser tip or its cloth, or wet wiping with its cleaning-tablet solution. It says whiteboard cleaner or alcohol can be used for deeper cleaning, but warns that frequent alcohol use may shorten coating life. Reusability therefore comes with a care routine; the campaign does not establish a guaranteed lifetime of erase cycles.

Who It Is For

HEYplan is best considered by people who prefer handwriting, revise plans frequently and want a structured link between goals and daily actions. It may be less suitable for people who need a permanent handwritten archive or want to use any pen without checking compatibility. The key question is whether you prefer a resettable working plan or a growing record of past pages.

What Backers Should Verify

  • Template fit: inspect the exact five Starter or eight Core templates and decide whether the additional structure will be used.
  • Package contents: distinguish included pens, cleaning supplies and pages from optional expansions.
  • Writing and care: check the intended pen on the supplied tester and confirm cleaning instructions and replacement supplies.
  • Record keeping: decide how to preserve notes before erasing them.
  • Durability and support: ask about coating wear, replacement pages, binding compatibility and warranty terms. Repeated-use marketing alone does not establish a tested service life.

Summary

HEYplan offers a modular, rewritable way to connect longer-term goals with everyday plans. Starter versus Core is mainly a question of how much structure you want. The more consequential tradeoff is accepting ink care and a separate archive habit in exchange for reusable pages. Compare the layouts and care guidance on the official campaign before choosing a package.
