What these protections cover: the performance commitment and fund-protection level listed for the BackerRock plan purchased. They do not guarantee total campaign funding, a fixed number of backers, or overall campaign success.

How the Refund Difference Is Calculated
Fund protection is separate from the complimentary resend. Basic, Advance, and Premium include 1x fund protection; Gold VIP includes 2x fund protection.
1x fund protection
Applies to Basic, Advance, and Premium. When the calculation produces a positive eligible difference:
Refund difference = plan price − attributed revenue
Example: A $899 Premium plan records $800 in attributed pledge value. $899 − $800 = a $99 eligible refund difference.
2x fund protection
Applies to Gold VIP. The attributed pledge value is first divided by two:
Refund difference = plan price − (attributed revenue ÷ 2)
Example: A $1,299 Gold VIP plan records $2,000 in attributed pledge value. $2,000 ÷ 2 = $1,000; $1,299 − $1,000 = a $299 eligible refund difference.
An eligible fund-protection difference is returned through the original payment method under the Refund Policy. A plan may include both a performance resend commitment and a separate fund-protection calculation.

How ROI Is Calculated
Creator-verifiable attribution
BackerRock creates a dedicated tracking link for each campaign. Attributed backers and attributed revenue are the conversions credited to that link in the creator’s own Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaign dashboard.
ROI = attributed revenue ÷ plan price
Example: $2,300 ÷ $899 = 2.56x. Because 2.56x is below the Premium plan’s 3x target, the creator may request one complimentary resend.
What controls the review
- The first completed promotion placement is reviewed against the target for the plan purchased.
- The creator’s campaign dashboard is the primary result record.
- The review uses the attributed revenue visible after the platform dashboard has updated.
- If the platform has already removed a canceled or reversed pledge from the attributed figure, the updated dashboard figure is used.
- For a non-USD campaign, BackerRock documents the USD conversion basis used for the review.
Shortfall Remedy
What Happens If the First Promotion Falls Short
The complimentary resend is the remedy under this performance commitment. It is not an automatic cash refund.

Wait for the campaign dashboard to update after the first BackerRock placement, then compare attributed revenue with the plan target.

BackerRock reviews the dedicated tracking link, the submitted dashboard evidence, the plan purchased, and campaign eligibility.

If the first placement is eligible and below its target, BackerRock schedules one complimentary resend of the applicable promotion placement.

When the Performance Guarantee Applies
Eligible guarantee review
- The campaign and placement were approved by BackerRock.
- The plan was purchased for the campaign being reviewed.
- The dedicated tracking link was used as provided and remained functional.
- The first included promotion placement was completed.
- The creator can provide dashboard evidence sufficient to verify the attributed result.
- The request is made promptly, preferably while the campaign is still live so a resend can be scheduled effectively.
Not included in the calculation
- Total campaign funding that was not attributed to the BackerRock tracking link.
- Traffic, backers, or revenue credited to organic, affiliate, advertising, creator-owned, or other external channels.
- Results that cannot be verified because the link was changed, removed, redirected, or did not remain functional.
- Campaigns that become suspended, unavailable, materially changed, or otherwise ineligible for the agreed placement.
- Fraudulent activity, manipulated evidence, policy violations, or misuse of the guarantee process.
Cancellations & Refunds
Different requests follow different rules
A performance shortfall is handled through the complimentary resend described above. An eligible fund-protection difference follows the 1x or 2x formula on this page. Order cancellations and other monetary refund requests are governed separately by BackerRock’s Refund Policy.
FAQ
Performance Guarantee Questions
Does the guarantee promise that my campaign will reach its overall funding goal?
No. It applies only to the plan-level attributed revenue target described on this page. Campaign quality, price, rewards, timing, category, existing momentum, and other channels can all affect total funding.
Does all campaign revenue count toward ROI?
No. Only attributed revenue credited to the dedicated BackerRock tracking link counts toward this calculation. Total campaign funding from other sources is not included.
Are canceled pledges deducted?
The review uses the attributed revenue shown in the creator’s campaign dashboard at the time of review. If the platform has already removed a canceled or reversed pledge from that figure, the updated figure is used. BackerRock does not separately reconstruct cancellations outside the platform dashboard.
Can a plan include both the free resend and fund protection?
Yes. The performance guarantee and fund protection are separate calculations. The performance guarantee provides one complimentary resend when the applicable 2x or 3x target is not reached. Fund protection calculates an eligible refund difference under the separate 1x or 2x formula.
Is the complimentary resend itself a cash refund?
No. One complimentary resend of the applicable promotion placement is the remedy for an eligible first-placement performance shortfall. A cash refund may arise only from the separate fund-protection formula or another provision of the Refund Policy.
Do I need to give BackerRock access to my Kickstarter or Indiegogo account?
No. Never send your campaign password or account login credentials. A dashboard screenshot and the project or order reference are sufficient for the initial review; BackerRock may request clarifying evidence without requesting account access.
When should I request a review?
Request a review after the first promotion has been completed and the campaign dashboard has updated. Contact BackerRock promptly and, whenever practical, while the campaign is still live so the complimentary resend can be scheduled effectively.
